Maybe today

maybe today we'll hear about that house we really really want.

Crossing my fingers.

We (the kids and I) drove past a few other houses on the "maybe" list Larry came up with and I *thought* I'd seen all the barrios and scary neighborhoods within 15 miles from here.

But I was wrong. Apparently there are a few more we hadn't ventured into.

*sigh*

And it's not like we don't stick out in those neighborhoods- rumbling into town in our ginormous diesel Excursion.. which I'm driving until the Van's radiator gets fixed.. and Diesel is cheaper than gas these days and the local station has bio-diesel cheaper than regular diesel (how COOL!!) speaking of which.. maybe I'll take the van in today.

I promised the kids while we were waiting for it that we'd ride the commuter train to San Diego and back and get an ice cream cone. That should be good for 3 hours of waiting time.

The repair shop I've found with a good reputation has a first-come-first-serve policy- so we go, bring it there and wait in line for it to be done. Could be all day, could be a few hours.. hard to know but they're always busy. But they take good care of military families, so we like them. And I'll wait for them rather than be told I need $3000 worth of work that I don't really need. For a van that might be worth that much.. if you parted it out.
