Well there's nothing quite like loggin on to do online check in

for your flight and the computer tells you "there is a problem with one or more of your flights" and you get checked in as far as los angeles.

That was last night. I called the "please call 1-800-india" number and got some guy who repeated "so sorry, so sorry" and put me on hold. He said some other stuff but between the kids yelling in the background and the heavy accent and the phone line static from crossing 1/2 around the globe into somewhere I bet got permanent electricity last month...

Anyway.. I digress..

But he assures me that after putting me on hold that I am checked in. I logged back in and was able to print boarding passes for all 3 legs of my flights, however... the computer still only has be officially checked in for the first flight. It tells me it will try to check us in as the flight becomes available.

Warm and comforting feeling, isn't it?

To boot, they've changed our flight numbers 4 times, so after going through and reserving seats in adjacent rows, when they change the flight numbers, our seats were unassigned. The last time they did this, they had only 3 seats available to reserve, the rest were taken/assigned. However.. the computer allowed me to reserve the same 3 seats for all 5 of us, so I don't know how that's going to work in practicality. We'll see. I think that's on the return leg, so they still have 4 weeks to change our flight numbers yet again.  I also managed to mess up Larry's flight, so despite leaving on the same plane and arriving on the same plane, the middle plane he's on a different one completely. Yes. 3 planes. Because we're trying to do this as affordably as possible. Why it should cost less to take 3 plane rides than 2 plane rides, I have no idea. However that's what continental thinks is cost effective. It doesn't seem logical to me, but hey, taking a greyhound across the country is cheaper, and stops 2000 times, so I guess they're using the public transit logic.

My logic tells me there's a pretty good chance our luggage will take a detour along the way. But we'll see. They've changed the carry on bag rules so that anything larger than a back pack is considered too large for carry on baggage, so I get to test this theory out. Yeah me.

Anyway.. I'm off not to try to overplan and over pack and *hopefully* that will lead to a smooth trouble free trip.
I hear the snickering. Stop. Really. Maybe we will have a trouble free trip.
OK. you're right, who am I kidding. Resume laughing.

Nothing like a computer to make you feel old

Or maybe it's just me. Probably is

Anyway.. I have yahoo mail. It decided it needed to update itself. OK.. so now I'm lost as to how to do the "normal" stuff I used to do..

And to add insult to old dog injury, at the top of the page, it tells me what is "trending now." What the heck? I assume this is what people are searching for, but what does it say about the rock I live under if I don't have a clue what they are searching for. Selena? who is this? Why do I care if she broke up with someone? Yesterday it was some other rumor of something.

Ugh. It makes my brain feel old.

In other news.. The kids are counting the hours until our overnight plane ride. I debate signing up for and using twitter to do hourly updates of the trip, but, hey. I'm old. I might update facebook. Maybe. Or not. I'm not sure at this point that I want evidence of this trip.

As it is, Kayla decided last night that she wasn't tired. At 1 am. She had a nice long nap, woke up and decided to come poke me in the face hourly until 5 am when she decided it was light enough out for her brothers to keep her company.

Let me tell you... cranky doesn't begin to describe the day here. In fact she was wailing how tired she was and throwing herself on the floor at 4.

And I'm thinking "yep. 3 more days of this and she's Grandma's problem"
Don't worry, Grandma, she generally hasn't pulled a stunt like this since she was an infant. And if I HAD chewable benadry, I would have given it to her. I forgot to get some today- my sleep deprived brain isn't functioning fully...
