Pictures to come when I find the camera again.
They are on the "Rangers" as in Texas Rangers. They have a blue shirt and hat and grey pants. Sonia played center field, Joey 3rd base. Sonia's number 9 and Joey's number 6.
They're both playing as right handed kids. They both write and eat with their left hands, so why play baseball righty? Welll.. because Sonia wanted the pink glove and it was a right handed glove and was not going to be pursuaded otherwise. And Joey thinks he throws better/faster with his right hand. And they're batting right handed too- at least for now.
All the kids got a chance to bat and I was told that was the best part. Sonia was tagged out but they let the "out" kids finish running the bases, anyway. They don't keep score, anyway. And with the way they run the bases, missing bases, running past the kid in front of them on the base paths.. etc.. I'm not even sure you you could keep score...???
And their favorite part was batting.
They have just enough kids to play on each team, so if one of them is sick, we don't have a position covered. But no one is sitting on the bench, either.
If you want an idea of how big Pendleton is- there are 3 different areas (leauges??) of baseball. And our area has 8 (!) teams consisting of only 5 year olds. That is amazing. That's 72 5 years old just in this league and ther are 3 other leagues. We didn't have that many in our entire town when my brothers played. I don't think there were 72 5 year olds, much less playing baseball...
And while I was under the impression from the growth charts that my kids were tall for their age, they weren't the tallest kids on the team. They were actually about average. And they are among the older kids on the team.
Just another day in Paradise ~~
PS. no house hunting this weekend.
