a. Larry was not the only Navy officer there and (in his glowing white choker white uniform among the sea of Dark Blue Marine Dress uniforms) wasn't quite so conspicuous.
b. I was 22 and liked getting drunk and dancing.

d. Knew someone there besides Larry
As it was, it was OK. Over an hour of pomp and ceremony, lots of talk, lots of Ooh Rah- Go Marines. They have the Ball to celebrate the Marine Corps Birthday, so of course it's all about the Corp. Still scratching my head as to why we had to be there. But the entire BAS was there, so I got to meet the people Larry is in charge of. .
The picture of the other guys in white are the guys in his BAS. They were the only guys wearing white in a room of 1000+ Marines.
And today is Halloween. Hurrah.
The kids have been up since the crack of dawn excited for candy later today.
Sheesh.
you'd think it was Christmas morning or something.
I remember the happy days before they knew what Halloween was..
