So it's been a month again since I've been back to write something here.
And part of it has been that I forget my passwords to things. Make that I don't forget. I never get them into my memory banks. My computer pops up with a "do you want firefox to remember the password for you?" and I always say "yes"
If there was a heck yes, option, I'd click that.
However.. this works if the little box shows up with your user id.
User IDs are not so easy for my computer to realize it needs to remember for me. Sometimes there's a box that says "remember me" and even if I click it, it sometimes forgets me.
Sad. I know. I can't remember who I am.
And honestly I use the same 3 user ids most places. But some of these places have requirements like "At least 1 capital letter and 1 number" and my user id in most places do not include 1 capital and 1 number. Seriously- when did names start including numbers? I know a few pop stars do weird crap with their names like use $ for letters and that one guy who used symbols and because "they guy formerly known as Prince" gee.. yeah. THAT made sense-change your name to an un-pronounceable symbol..
Granted, I could probably remember to capitalize the first letter.. which would be grammatically correct.. but really, if my computer with a bunch of GBs (or MBs or whatever ton of memory it has) can't remember all my IDs how can I, with my memory made of teflon remember it?
And then there's the trick of the security questions. And for example, it asked me "what was your first phone number" Gee... *I* picked that one? What did I answer?
I remember a 203-923-3545 number. Did I pick that one? Ok. I only remember it because I pulled out a book I had as a kid for my kids and I had filled out the information about 2nd grade era with my address and phone number. Actually I didn't put in the 203 part, but that *was* the area code then. The phone company was nice enough to change the area code when I was in college. I went to call home and got a message "this phone number is no longer connected" I don't remember even getting a "try the new area code" message. Actually.. I think I'm remembering wrong. Ahh.. that's right. They changed the phone number because they were getting prank calls. They forgot to tell me. They thought it was one of my "friends". Probably the same "friends" who vandalized my car. Funny. I don't think I'd consider those acts of friendship. I still don't know who it was that hated me so much.
Anyway back from the 1990's...
We don't have poultry yet. The housing for it it 99% done, there is a final perimeter fence going up around it to try to keep extra wildlife away as well as annexing the land behind us for our use. Squatter's rights. If we're still here in 7 years and still have chickens there... it might be ours? I'll put up pictures at some point. It's a nice coop/set up.
We had our "weekend of service" at our church. It's one weekend (in theory yearly) where the church has no services and instead everyone is supposed to sign up for a 4 hour shift at one of the 50 service sites.
A few months back they had asked anyone with experience to sign up. So.. I signed Larry up. He agreed to let me.
Not that he admits that now, but it wasn't without his approval.
Anyway... turns out they were thinking "professional" experience. But not to worry. We're professionals (lol) at least we have done what professionals have done, only for cheaper. So he was put in charge of the landscaping and carpentry at one site. The one thing I give our church is they divide and conquer well- think military set up. One guy in charge of a bunch of colonels who are in charge of a bunch of captains who over see lieutenants down to the enlisted masses with limited skills who just need to do what they're told. (PS that's Marine ranking since the Navy ranking confuses most non-Navy folk and we're in Marine land.)
Anyway.. Larry was about Captain level. (at least he's consistent) And he made me lieutenant over the landscape/garden. (Gee, thanks. I signed you up, not me.) I have far more before pictures than after. I might go there and check up on the garden we planted. Sadly, they wanted a garden but don't have a person who has skills or interest in tending it. They really wanted someone to come take care of it for them, but until someone steps up... I don't have the time to do it. I barely keep ours under control.
But it was a busy weekend and we met alot of great people who go to our church we'd never meet otherwise. That is one of the disadvantages of going to a church whose weekly attendance is triple the population of your hometown.
So.. other than that project..
I realized this week that in making our trip to CT plans that the kids are going to miss the first 4 days of school. Banging my head on the wall on that one. I talked to one of their teachers about it- mostly because they wanted an update on when I was taking them out of school, because I had talked about getting them permission to go in May, however most of May had been state mandated testing, so by the time I got the dates set it wasn't going to work with Larry's schedule... so I said we were going in August and, oh, by the way, they just posted the schedule for next year and we're going to miss the first week of school.
I can't win. One teacher told me "oh that's not good, that's when they go over everything for the year" and I said "well... there's nothing I can do about it"
And the truth of the matter is that they're going to post on the school gate the week before school starts who their teachers are- when we'll be gone, anyway, so it's not like I can even contact them ahead of time that we will miss the beginning of school.. because I won't know who to contact.
(insert sign of resignation here) if only that wackjob was right and I wouldn't have to have been worrying about this since Sat the world ended. But.. no. If it the other wack jobs are right, the world will end in Sept or October, so really I should keep them out of school because why waste the last 2 months of being on this earth in school, right?
Reminds me of my freshman year in high school that my grandmother was listening to someone who had the world ending 2 weeks into school and I was convinced enough to not do 70% of my homework for those 2 weeks. Of course I and most of my freshman class missed the first 3 days of school because we all had food poisoning from the "welcome to high school picnic" the day before school started so the first 2 weeks didn't get off to a terrific start, anyway. (no, I'm not making that up. Have I introduced you to the black cloud that has kept me company for most of my life? It's funny when it's not your cloud)
So.. with that little trip down memory lane I really do need to get something done from my actual "do to list." believe it or not, blogging isn't on there. Perhaps if I did put it on there, I'd be more consistent with it. Or not. I've had some things on my do-to list for so long that they are no longer relevant.. mailing christmas and birthdaycards, for example...

I'm always excited when you've got a new post up because I love reading your ramblings. Is that weird?
